JSW Steel Begins Work on ₹65,000 Crore 13.2 MTPA Integrated Plant at Paradip
JSW Steel has officially commenced work on its ₹65,000 crore integrated steel plant at Paradip, Odisha, marking one of the largest industrial investments in India's steel sector. The project, with a planned production capacity of 13.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), is expected to significantly enhance the country's steel manufacturing capabilities while positioning Odisha as a major global steel production hub.
The mega project will be developed by JSW Utkal Steel Ltd., a subsidiary of JSW Steel, and will feature advanced steelmaking facilities along with modern infrastructure to support large-scale production and exports.
The Paradip integrated steel plant is among the largest greenfield steel projects currently under development in India. Once completed, the facility will manufacture a wide range of high-quality steel products for infrastructure, automotive, engineering, construction, renewable energy, and manufacturing industries.
The investment is expected to transform Odisha's industrial landscape by generating thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities while stimulating growth across logistics, mining, engineering, and ancillary industries. The project also aligns with the state's vision of becoming India's leading steel manufacturing destination. In addition to expanding steel production, the project is expected to encourage infrastructure development, improve regional connectivity, and attract further investments into the Paradip industrial corridor.
The new integrated steel plant supports India's long-term objective of significantly increasing domestic steel production under the National Steel Policy. Equipped with advanced manufacturing technologies and sustainability-focused processes, the facility will help meet rising domestic demand while strengthening India's export potential.
The commencement of work on JSW Steel's ₹65,000 crore integrated steel plant at Paradip represents a landmark milestone for India's manufacturing sector. With a planned capacity of 13.2 MTPA, the project is expected to drive industrial growth, create large-scale employment, strengthen Odisha's economy, and reinforce India's position as one of the world's leading steel-producing nations.
