PepsiCo is set to open state of the art Potato & snacks manufacturing Greenfield Plant at Manapparai

In a major boost to Tamil Nadu’s industrial and food processing ecosystem, PepsiCo is set to establish a state-of-the-art potato and snacks manufacturing Greenfield plant at Manapparai under the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) in Trichy district. The new facility is expected to strengthen the company’s food manufacturing footprint in South India while generating employment and accelerating regional industrial development.

According to reports, PepsiCo’s upcoming manufacturing facility will be developed on nearly 28 acres of land at the Manapparai SIPCOT industrial park. The plant will primarily focus on the production of potato chips and other packaged snack products, catering to rising consumer demand across India’s fast-growing snacks market.

The investment is expected to significantly contribute to Tamil Nadu’s industrial growth strategy, with estimates suggesting hundreds of direct and indirect job opportunities in the region. Industry sources indicate that the project could also strengthen local agricultural supply chains, particularly for potato farmers and allied food-processing sectors. PepsiCo’s contract farming ecosystem is likely to play a key role in ensuring raw material procurement for the facility.

The Manapparai Greenfield plant is expected to emerge as a major anchor investment in the developing food processing corridor of Trichy. The location offers strong logistics connectivity and proximity to agricultural regions, making it a strategic hub for food manufacturing and distribution across southern India.

This development aligns with PepsiCo’s broader India expansion strategy, as the company continues to scale manufacturing capacity to meet increasing demand for branded snack products such as potato chips and savory foods. The Tamil Nadu government has also been actively attracting large-scale manufacturing investments under SIPCOT to strengthen the state’s position as a leading industrial and FMCG destination.
